Corey Feldman on Goonies Sequel - Original Cast and Steven Spielberg on Board so What's Holding up Production?

Corey Feldman wants the Goonies sequel to happen and so does the original cast. Feldman recently told the Hollywood Reporter that everyone, including Goonies writer, Steven Spielberg, wants to reunite for the sequel. However, if there is a sequel, it may end up on Broadway instead!

“We all like to see it happen, but it’s one of those stumbling blocks where no matter how much love there is ...The No. 1 question that’s always been asked of me for the last 20 years is, ‘Will there be a sequel to Goonies?,’ and unfortunately my answer is always the same. It’s not up to me, you know, it’s the studio.”

There's no doubt that Goonies was a fantastic movie but will it still garnish the same fanfare 25 years later? Feldman was just a kid when he did the film. At 39, what would his role be in the sequel? More interesting, Feldman stated the sequel may end up on Broadway instead of the big screen:

“They are talking about doing a Broadway musical and I know Richard Donner is really behind that...He’s a dear friend of mine and we talk about it quite often and he said that they finally got a great script in which he’s very excited about.”

So, should they make a Goonies sequel or not? One thing is for sure, if the sequel is anything like the original, it will be a hit.
