Johnny Depp 'Dark Shadows' movie reunites actor with Tim Burton

Director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp will reunite once again for a new movie called "Dark Shadows."  The film will feature the popular creatures that go bump in the night: vampires, werewolves, zombies and ghosts.

According to EW's Popwatch, the remake of the popular macabre daytime soap will start production in April of 2011.  Depp will take on the role of Barnabas Collins who was originally played by Johnathan Frind in the 1966 through 1971 series.  He says it's a "childhood dream" of his to take on the role, and we know Depp does justice to the roles he takes.

As for Depp and Burton as a team, this is their eighth film together.  Most recently the duo teamed up for the successful "Alice in Wonderland" which was also in 3D in theaters.  Other films the two did include "Edward Scissorhands," "Corpse Bride," and "Ed Wood."  The two seem to make a good team, and it's apparent Burton enjoys working with Depp.  Why not, Depp's a Hollywood A-lister and if you've got the connection use it!

However, do you think there's too much being done with vampire and werewolf movies in Hollywood these days?  Will Depp in "Dark Shadows" be enough to compete with the likes of the "Twilight" franchise?
