An elderly woman was found in the freezer at a Calabasas, California nursing home. The Silverado Senior Living Facility lost the Dementia-ridden woman, but the employees later found her locked away in the freezer.
The 94-year-old woman had wandered away from the supervision of employees at the nursing home. She was able to get back into the kitchen, because the locks into the kitchen were broken. The facility planned on fixing the broken locks the following day. Do you want to place a bet, if those locks to the kitchen are fixed now?
When the employees realized that the elderly woman was missing, they went on an all out search. After a frantic search, they found her in the freezer, and she was still alive. The woman’s name is Mollye Fisher. She was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
The freezer was set to only 5 degrees, and it is run with a fan. Can you imagine the poor woman being locked in that freezer? It must have been terrifying for her! The report did not say how long she was in there!
The nursing home certainly needs to work on watching their patients better! Obviously, it would cost too much to watch patients on a one-on-one basis, but more supervision is needed!
The Silverado Senior Living Facility already costs the patients loved ones $70,000 per year! Undoubtedly, the loved ones of Fisher are extremely angry that their beloved mother and friend was locked in the freezer.
At this time, the nursing home is being investigated thoroughly. It is possible that the facility could be closed or fined drastically. Another instance occurred only a year ago with the Silverado Senior Living Facility. One of their caregivers was convicted with a life in prison sentence. His name was Cesar Ulloa, and he was convicted of elder abuse and torture.
How scary it must be for loved ones to place their parents for siblings in a nursing home with the abuses and neglects that are occurring! What would you do if it was your mother found in a freezer?
