Australian Twin Sisters in Colorado Double Shooting Confuse Police

Australian twin sisters were discovered shot in a Colorado family gun range, but investigating officers are at a loss as to what occurred.  The double shooting of the Australian twin sisters at the gun range resulted in the death of one sister and the other in critical condition from a head wound.

Police in Arapahoe county just southeast of Denver, Colorado, were dispatched to a gun range to investigate a shooting.

Police tape
Upon arrival to the Family Shooting Center at Cherry Creek State Park, police found one woman dead in a shooting stall and another suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head in the same stall.

The identities of the women are unknown, but what police do know is that the women are 29-year-old Australian twin sisters.  Apparently, due to the women being identical twins, it was a task to determine exactly who was deceased and who survived the puzzling shooting. No information could be obtained from the surviving twin as she was incapacitated and unable to speak. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition.  No doubt police would like to talk to her should she survive, as she may clue them in to what transpired.

"We want to have the opportunity to at least talk to the other victim," said Arapahoe County Sheriff's Capt. Louie Perea. "I'm not sure when we're going to have the opportunity for that to take place."

The only information police have to work with about the double shooting of the Australian twin sisters is a surveillance tape that showed footage of the women going into a single stall.  However, it only captured them falling backwards as if in unison, following gunshots from the discharge of their weapons.

According to the owner of the gun range, the Australian twin sisters, along with 18 other patrons were at the shooting center on this day.  No one reported anything out of the ordinary, and there apparently does not appear to be anyone else involved in the shooting.  The surveillance tape confirms this.

With little to assist them in their investigation, police are depending on forensic information, interviews, and the recovery of the surviving Australian twin sister. She may be the only one who could shed light on why a double shooting took place.
