Avril Lavigne's split with Sum 41 rocker husband Deryck Whibley was easy as pie thanks to a pre-nup. In the divorce, Lavigne was able to keep her song catalogues, awards and guitars and so did Whibley. Also, Lavigne and Whibley were not entitled to spousal support.
What a surprise! In Hollyweird, more often than not, celebrity divorces usually include nasty battles fought in front of the public. However, Avirl was wise beyond her years to sign a pre-nup. Without the pre-nup, it's a safe bet their divorce proceedings probably wouldn't have gone so smoothly. Lavigne and Whibley married in 2006 and the "Let's Go" singer filed for divorce in October of 2009.Their marriage ended after three years with Lavignue citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. Interestingly, Eva Longoria is also divorcing after just three years of marriage to Tony Parker.
Longoria has also cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. Is this jus a coincidence or is there a three-year curse for celebrity couples? Which couple will be next in line to file for divorce this year? Will it be Courtney Cox and David Arquette?
