F-22 Wreckage Found in Alaska - Where is Missing Pilot?

The wreckage of an F-22 that went missing on Tuesday night has been found in Alaska. There is a team going on a rescue mission for the pilot about 100 miles north of Anchorage. The Air Force located the apparent wreckage, and the pilot is missing.

The missing F-22 was part of a training mission, and on Tuesday night the plane lost contact with air traffic controllers. The jet was from the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, and it was part of the 3rd Wing. There was only one pilot on board because that is all the jet carries. The Air Force believes that the pilot could have ejected the wreckage.

Air Force Believes Pilot can Survive

If the pilot did eject, he has a chance of surviving. According to the Air Force, the pilot had done the Arctic survival training, so that is good and leaves some hope for finding the stranded pilot. The rescue team will both ensure that the wreckage is that of the missing F-22, and then they will begin actively searching for the pilot.

This has to be an incredibly difficult time for the pilot’s family and friends. Hopefully the team will find the F-22 wreckage, and they will quickly locate the pilot. Not knowing has to be the worst all around for everyone. Hopefully the pilot ejected and is practicing his survival training. What a tragedy to crash during a training mission.
