Bush has now admitted that his Katrina photo was a huge mistake. The former president has been making the rounds of the talk show circuit this week to support his new book "Decision Points" just released this week, and he has stirred up hornet nests wherever he went with his comments.
Whether it be about Kanye West or the decisions he made during his presidency, the man has been on the tip of a lot of tongues this week as his words on air are tossed around. The interviews started with a sit down with Matt Lauer aired earlier this week. Bush also came in and sat down with the anchor on "The Today Show" later in the week. One of the major topics of the interview were the events surrounding Hurricane Katrina.
Everything from Kanye West accusing him of being racist to this photo op shot when Bush visited the area was on the table for discussion. At the time, some said the photo made him look "detached and uncaring." Many are surprised the former president actually admitted that the photo was such a huge mistake. It was just one of many he made in the handling of Hurricane Katrina.
The fact he has been so candid in interviews this week is surprising. He wasn't as candid during his presidency, but time seems to have opened up the flood gates. Matt Lauer managed to dig in and ask the tough questions of George W. Bush, but a lot of what was asked about only caused problems this week. The newest Kanye West outburst, that led the rapper to cancel his future planned Today Show concert, was a direct result of his comments about Bush during the time of Hurricane Katrina five years ago.
