The Green Lantern trailer has been released for mass consumption. This first Green Lantern trailer is already providing quite a bit of interest in the film, even though we won't see it in theaters until the 2011 summer movie season. Still, it has taken so long for Hollywood to bring out a Green Lantern movie that is has created quite a buzz.
“Green Lantern” is set to be released on June 17, 2011. The movie is based on a popular comic book storyline first introduced by DC Comics in 1940. The “Green Lanterns” are a group of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order. Members own a special ring, which gives them super powers. Ryan Reynolds’ character, Hal Jordan becomes the first human member of the group. A fighter pilot by trade, Hal has a tough time being accepted into the group. The “Green Lanterns” must find a way to come together and defeat their enemy, Parallax. Will they be successful? We’ll just have to wait until June to see!

According to IMDB, Green Lantern will come to theaters on June 17, 2011, putting its release almost nine months in the future. It is never too early for Hollywood to get a jump on the summer movie season though, and releasing a full-length trailer this early is definitely going to set into our minds as a movie that we need to see next year.
Starring in the lead role will be Ryan Reynolds, making this the second time that he has been a lead character in a comic book movie. This is his first turn in something out of DC Comics though, and just from the first viewings of this trailer, it looks like the casting director made a great choice. He could probably carry this movie, and of course you can expect him to be shirtless as often as screen-time will allow.
