Talented rap star Jay Electronica has officially joined Jay-Z's Roc Nation. Shawn Carter just recently gave the news to fans at a New York event held at The Box. This latest signing brings Jay Electronica to a Roc Nation roster that already includes a big name in the R&B pop genre as well as a potential superstar in the making who has a famous rapper/actor dad.
In case you haven't heard of him, Jay Electronica is a New Orleans rapper who built up his underground legend for years before this move to join Jay-Z's label. He's got a hit song "The Ghost of Christopher Wallace," an ode to the late Notorious BIG, and also two hard-hitting hip hop tunes titled 'Exhibit A" and "Exhibit C" appropriately. Electronica has been a popular guest on various rap tracks including one by Talib Kweli on his latest album.
According to VH1, Jay-Z said about the move to bring Jay Electronica to Roc Nation: "My whole goal is to reintroduce magic to hip hop," Jay said of bringing Electronica into his fold. "We watched this wizard do his thing. Y'all supported him. And he's an official Roc Nation signee."
It seems Jay-Z is really bringing the talent to his squad. Other talent singed to Jay-Z's label Roc Nation includes R&B diva Rihanna and Will Smith's daughter "Willow Smith" who showed the world how to whip their hair. Now with Jay Electronica, the Roc roster continues to grow in talent, making for another successful business venture for the already-worldwide brand known as Jay-Z.
